Prayer

This is our 40th Day, and numerous people have said it would be a shame to finish!

We don’t need to finish, but we can keep our prayer focus, particularly as we go through Holy Week and up to Easter.

Romans 1:16-17 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Prayer Pointer: That we as a church will live and declare the gospel with courage and clarity and invite lots of people to Just 10.

2 Thess 1:11-12
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfil every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.
We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer pointer: Pray for our young people on their houseparty this week-end, that they would meet with God and grow in zeal for Him. Pray for Tim and Gaz from Dweeb as they lead the sessions.

We gather for prayer this evening at Cornerstone: Finish at midnight to conclude our 24-7 week of prayer.

Ps 27:1-6

The LORD is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.

One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

Pray for all those who are involved in government: Local and national: For our city council, county council, our MP – Ben Bradshaw, our national government etc… “May your Kingdom Come…”

It must be fasting today…its Wednesday!

Philemon 1:6
I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

Prayer pointer: Pray for Exeter and the region’s churches, that we would be united and committed to the cause of the gospel. Exeter church leaders meet together at lunchtime today.

Is. 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Prayer pointer: Pray for Just 10, that all involved in it will be strengthened with God’s power, including all of us as we invite people along.

Josh. 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Pray for Isca’s year team workers, Vicky & Elena, especially that they will be fruitful in working in St. James, Pinhoe, Clyst Vale and St. Peter’s Schools

Col 1: 9b-12
We have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

Prayer pointer: pray for the homeless in our city, for those who help them and for Rich and Laura Cummings and the team who work at the Crossline centre.

Mark 8:34
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Prayer pointer: Pray for At Home, Its staff and clients to know and experience God’s love.

LIVING FOR GOD: new theme from today…
Our 24-7 prayer week starts today. This evening our young people kick off with a night of prayer. Let’s all give ourselves to getting to know God better this week. Choose life!

Josh. 24:15
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your
forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Pray for our children’s and youth workers and all they are involved in. Maria and team with Fri-D-Fish, holiday club families, and all those we are building friendships with. Rich & Becca Carne and all those involved in youth work, including our year team workers – Vicky & Elena.

Jesus said, I am the true vine…. John 15:1

Prayer pointer: Let’s pray today for one another all members of our church and life group, that we would “Abide in Christ” and be fruitful as we pursue the Kingdom of God. Why not use our address book as a guide to pray blessing on one another?
