Year Team

We have been running a volunteer year team for several years. This is usually for younger people, typically before or after their higher education who want to give their time to Christian mission and serving in church life.

Why we have a year team

  • To give people practical opportunities to express their love for God by serving him and other people in sacrificial ways.
  • So that the workers themselves can get to know God better, receive training, develop their skills and be stretched.
  • To offer plenty of time to help the ongoing work of the church in serving and reaching children and young people in particular but there are also opportunities to serve with adults and the elderly and housebound. To see God’s love expressed and his Kingdom come.

We are interested to hear from anyone who feels God may be leading them to serve in this way with us.

We have linked our workers into the South West Youth Ministries’ (SWYM) training programmes at an appropriate level for training.

Members of our church family have been committed to host and support our volunteers with ‘pocket money’ and there is no financial cost to serving on the year team.

Here are what some former Year Team members had to say:

I had a great year. Not just because ISCA is my home church, but that you really are a family, I never once felt unsupported, and it was a pleasure to do anything I could for you as a part of my year. I loved last year, and really miss everyone and my job! God used it to teach me a lot about myself as we were teaching the young people of ISCA, and changed me through it! I pray that whoever takes on the year next will feel equally blessed!

Isca definitely gives that family feel, it’s full of loving and supportive people. The team are great; they have constantly encouraged me to grow and explore my giftings, and amongst the work there’s always time found to have a laugh.
