LIVING FOR GOD: new theme from today…
Our 24-7 prayer week starts today. This evening our young people kick off with a night of prayer. Let’s all give ourselves to getting to know God better this week. Choose life!

Pray for our children’s and youth workers and all they are involved in. Maria and team with Fri-D-Fish, holiday club families, and all those we are building friendships with. Rich & Becca Carne and all those involved in youth work, including our year team workers – Vicky & Elena.

Prayer pointer: Let’s pray today for one another all members of our church and life group, that we would “Abide in Christ” and be fruitful as we pursue the Kingdom of God. Why not use our address book as a guide to pray blessing on one another?

And then a short explanation of blogging and what a church blog could be.

Firstly, for the very uninitiated, a ‘blog’ is short for ‘web log’, which is, as it says on the tin, simply an internet based journal. These have been around for a long time now but have recently grown enormously in popularity – most of the major UK newspapers have a blog as well as their regular news sites, for example. Blogs can be used for all sorts of purposes, from news reporting to more personal diaries. One nice feature that most blogs have is that users can comment on the post, and thus discussion is generated, and many blogs have their own ‘community’ of readers.

For Isca, the idea could be to start off communicating a ‘thought for the day’, similar to the way in which Andy has been emailing prayer points out during the 40 days of prayer and fasting. It could also communicate news from overseas (Gemma, Bob & Muriel, Sheila, etc), as well as news from youth, and around the other churches in the city even perhaps. There could be the option of including prayer requests etc. if this could be managed properly. If people wanted it to be, it could be as diverse as including book reviews, film reviews, music reviews, personal testimonies, news from life groups, At Home news, Fair trade news, justice issues, notes from Sunday morning speakers – even worship through writing poetry, prose, artwork – whatever you wanted! It could be a good way for people to keep in touch and be part of another kind of community. Probably the best way for it to work practically would be for one person to be in charge of the blog itself, but for lots of people to send contributions in via email.

There are two parts to the blog – the main ‘window’ where the content appears, but also the sidebar, which can include relevant links. Probably the best way to see what a blog is would be to look at a couple online so if anyone has time to click through these links:

Posts can be organised into categories which makes it really easy to find things should you need to – or just to read posts in one category, for example. It can have multiple users so different people could write on the blog if they wanted to. It also supports plugins which can do all sorts of different things – one useful one might be the ability to have user levels for registered users of the blog so that you can control what is seen by the public and what is seen by registered users, as long as they are logged in.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Let’s also take time today to pray for the those working in frontline evangelism in the UK, for Sarah Barnes at New Generation Music in Bristol, the Dweeb boys, including Tim Alford and others we know locally and nationally.

Again, we’re meditating on the person of Jesus…

Jesus has designs on our all our neighbours, friends and family – that they know and love him! Pray today that God will reveal himself to them and draw many into his “sheepfold.” Pray for Just 10 and all other activities declaring the message of Christ and showing the love of God to those we know.

Thank God for our Mums too!

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

As we pray today lets reflect on these words for Gemma Randall and Cat Sercombe in Romania and all at the Haven of Hope Orphanage and church.

For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Also pray these words today for Bob & Muriel and those in L’Oasis in France.
